Reg QlikView Dev and QA Server

Hi All,

We have a requirement where we need to integrate QlikView and SharePoint (a SharePoint Site with QlikView Content). And, we are confused on whether we need separate servers for Dev and QA environments. We intend to use one single QlikView server for both QA and Dev environments - can anybody confirm if this is technically feasible? if yes, will there be any issues around performance? any thoughts around this will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks & Regards,

Raajesh N

Hi Raajesh,

Its always a better schenario to have two seperate servers, one for Dev and one for prod.

But in a smaller orgaznization where the report size is smaller and numbers of users who are going to use the applicatio is less, then you can have same server for Dev and Prod.

The decision should depend on the concurrent use of the application and the application (Data) size.

Hi Kaushik,

Thanks for the response. Sorry, but I think my question is different. We are definitely planning a separate server for Dev and Prod - my question whether we need one more for QA or can we leverage the Dev Server for QA. Appreciate your response.

Thanks & Regards,

HI Raajesh,

You can have the same server for Dev and QA.

The development will happen on your local desktop that will lease the license from the server, when the build is deployed then QA can take for testing.

thanks,

Hi Alejandro,

Thanks a lot for your response.

I understand your point. Do you foresee any other issues, apart from performance. My feel is, if it is just performance, we can definitely live with it, as we intend to have a good confirmation for the proposed QA / Dev Server. Particularly, I am interested to know if there are any technical issues in going for such an environment.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Rajesh,

Thanks for your response.

I was also thinking on the similar lines. However, where I am not clear is whether there will be any technical issues from SharePoint Server front - basically, there will be two server (SharePoint Dev and QA Servers) connecting to single QlikView Server - this is where I need some clarity.

Thanks & Regards,

You can have single SharePoint Server with different sites for Production and Development.

Hi Rajesh,

Thanks for prompt response.

I agree to what you have suggested, but my SharePoint counterpart insists on having two different boxes for Dev and QA, hence - am forced to ask you the same question which I asked earlier.

Whether there will be any technical issues from SharePoint Server front - basically, there will be two server (SharePoint Dev and QA Servers) connecting to single QlikView Server

Thanks & Regards,
