Hi Davis,

What I'd do is

  1. Install the software in the new hardware
  2. Backup the file C:\ProgramData\QlikTech and any other folders with QVDs and QVWs as set in the QMC in the older hardware.
  3. Copy them to the new hardware, overwritting the empty folders (the new hardware does not have services started yet).
  4. Shutdown QlikView Services in the old hardware.
  5. Reboot the new hardware.

If you are not moving from a major release (for example, from 9 to 11), that should be all.

Hope that helps.

You can also re-name your services in QMC,  before migration to localhost instead of machinename or ip number. This way the url points to the right machine after migration

Thank you ,Andreas. Can you tell me more clearly? Where should I do in QMC?

Miguel_Angel_Baeyens

Hi,

Go to the QMC, System, Setup, and check that all services, that by default are set to http://machinename:port are modified to http://localhost:port in the General tab of each service,

Hope that helps,

But will it bring the CALs data as well?

Miguel_Angel_Baeyens

Hi,

User and document license data is stored into .Meta and .PGO files. As long as you don't remove these, you will keep your data as you have it now. Server License data is stored into the C:\ProgramData\QlikTech folder by default, if it's only a change of the name of the server in the QMC, you shouldn't make any other change.

As usual, backup al your contents before any action.

Thanks a lot for the information.

Do we need to have same server name on both sides?
