Steps to run tasks on a particular server

Hi all,

Currently I have a PROD Server called 67 which has all the tasks running in QMC. Now my requirement is, all the services need to be installed on a new server called 68 and all the tasks should from there and no tasks would run in 67 further. So what are the steps required exactly?

• What thing to download from QV Download site and install in 68 machine?
• Do all the QV services need to be installed?
• How the new QMC wiould be created on 68; is it after QMS?
• Is it required to build all tasks again fresh on 68; can't it be imported from 67?
• Is it required to decommision all the services/tasks on the old server (67)?

Hi,

1. You have to download the Qlikview server from the site and install it in 68 server. Apply the license of the same .

2.If you want to keep accesspoint and QMC both in same server than you need to installed all the services , if you want only QMC than install QMS , QDS .

3. Yes after installing the services and the QMC will appear in that server. Please check the account by which the services is running.

4. You can import the task using API tool.

5. As after installation of QMC in 68 server , you need to apply the license ,and if you don't have two seprate license then you have to remove the license from 67 and apply in 68 , which bring 67 QMC down.

     In addition to what Dhiraj said.

     Make sure before doing anything you take the backup of the qlikview files. like configuration files, applications etc.

     The configuration files are available (including task n all) at location.

     C:\programdata\qliktech.

To conclude it , just want confirm my understanding:

• If I need Access Point on 67: I have to have QVS and QVwS on 67.
• If I need QMC and tasks running on 68: Have to install QDS, DSC and QMS on 68.

But how the Source Documents would come up in 68 QMC (now nothing is visible)?

I mean to say how to map the Source Document path to QMC? Is it after applying the license on 68 or have to install QVS as well? Or have to give all the necessary paths on System>>Setup>>Folder tab?

Please clarify.

Hi,

Correct but one thing to worth specifying here is that, in that case you should have a clustering license.

There is a type of license.

You need to give the specific path of the services, if you go to QEMC->System -> Setup -> click on the services and in general tab you will find the setting to map the services.

Will try those steps.Till now am able to open QMC on 68 after installations.

Now need to apply the licenses so that Source Document would come up.

Hi Mohanty,

1. Yes you need to install QVS, QVws and DSC in 67 server for getting the accesspoint.

2.QDS ans QMS will be enough for QMC.

3. After applying the Qlikview license you have to add the Source document path in the QMC.

QEMC > System > Setup > QlikView Servers > QVS > Folders

Hi Kaushik/ Dhiraj, 

Just a quick question: If I need to unsintall any one or two services from a server (let I want to uninstall only QMS from 67), which steps to follow?

In Control Panel>>Uninstall a Program, I can see only QlikView Server x64, if I uninstall this will it not affect the other services? Or it has to be done from somewhere else?

Please elaborate the steps.

As Far as I know , you have to uninstall the complete setup. i.e once you goto control panel and unistall the Qlikvieew server comple things will automatically get uninstall. You can't uninstall the services from somewhere else.

Hi Dhiraj,

I was able to uninstall the specific service from the Server, rather uninstalling all and installing again the required ones.

What I did is: I attempted to install the services from the Set up file, at that point it asked for Repair, Modify and Remove. I Just choosed Modify and uninstaled the required Service from the server.
