Problem 2: Activate Server License Offline

a. is it possible to activate it offline with ready LEF.txt?

b. if yes to Q(a, how can i do that, is it going to be similar to 8.5 or earlier?

c. Tried both online & offline activation, the LEF.txt information does not appear in the 'All Users' -> 'Application Data' -> 'QlikTech' folder. How to resolve?

Thanks a lot.

Hi, Everyone.

Problem has been resolved.

IE 6 is working fine.

All the errors are due to the in proper/incomplete setup of Qlikview server.

In the setup, when installer requested me to input username and password to run the services, i simply unchecked the check box, because i assume that item is optional and therefore, results in the malfunction of all the services.

Obviously, a valid qlikview administrator account should be entered to run the services.

Hi,

I had almost the same problem when installing QVS 9 RC after a BETA installation on a test machine. The only thing that helped (I was doing this already with the support team) was a complete deinstallation, deleting several registry entries related to QV, deleting existing QV-directories (especially Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Qlik Tech as far as I remember) and a new installation. Nothing else helped. But afterwards it worked.

Hi, Biester

Thank you for the information.

My vendor also suggested me to re-install with removal of registry.

I am not sure what exactly are the registry entries i need to remove.

Also is it possible for you to share the software environment with me?

i tried clean installation on a windows xp machine, but still hitting the same problem.

Thanks,

Regards

Hi,

it was a Win Server 2003 R2 x64-Edition; IE-Version 6.0.3790.3959 in my environment.

In my case I deleted all the HKCU/Software/QlikTech and HKLM/Software/QlikTech and all "QlikTech" or "QlikView" directories anywhere in the filesystem (the system was made QlikView-free!)

But your new installation really was clean, meaning the machine had never seen a QlikView before? If that really is so, then it could be something else than it was in my case. I'd suggest you have the support look at it.

Joachim

Hi, Biester

You question has enlightened me.

I think it should be the software conflict...

I have earlier version of Qlikview Client installed either 8.2 or 8.5.

I will try out...

Thanks a lot

IE 6 is not supported for the Management Console, I would suggest trying a different browser - IE 7 or 8.

Hi Chris,

yes, the QVS-Manual says "IE 7 required".

Support yet didn't have anything against IE 6 on our test installation, I didn't notice it either; in the end we got QVS 9 running in any respect with (or should I say inspite of ?) IE 6 - and it's still there working (except for the expired test license). In fact, I just checked our productive server, and there's also still IE 6 and QMC running without problems. Nevertheless, knowing recommendation, I will update to IE 7 now.

Mingming,

in any case try if updating to IE 7 helps. Would by nice if you could post the result.

Joachim
