QVS service instable, disconnected but running.

We are trying to get a Qlikview Test Server to work, that is: a QVS and a Qlikview Web Server both QV11.2 running on a old Windows 2003 server, where we earlier had a QV 10 later QV 11 running (Full Single Machine install). Before installing the QV 11.2 we did rename all old Qlikview-folders with a prefix "_OLD" and went through the RegEdit removing old Qlikview-keys.

All the below is x64.

The plan was to integrate the QV Test Server and the Test AccessPoint into the QMC on the new qv production setup, which is a Full Single Machine Install on Windows 2008 x64 with a IIS (not Qlikview Webserver).

The problem(s) on the Test invironment:

1. The QVS service is unstable, which means that it is possible to get the QVS service stated and to get the QMC on the production side to see and to talk to the Test QVS, but after a few minutes the QMC looses the connection to the Test QVS telling that the QVS "is down" and "disconnected" allthough the Test QVS service is still running on the Windows 2003 server.

Trying to license the Test QVS we had the problem that it was not possible to get the LEF file in the normal way by pressing apply after Serial and Code numbers was typed in. We had to copy the LEF text directly into the form in the QMC.

In the QV Event log we find: "300 error Init: The initialization process failed. Failed to capture port."

In the Windows Application log we are getting the following errors:

A.

Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for {CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D} and it will not be loaded. This is most likely caused by a faulty registration.

E.

The description for Event ID ( 300 ) in Source ( QlikViewServer ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Init: The initialization process failed. Failed to capture port.

In the Windows System log the following errors can be found:

A.

Remote Access Connection Manager failed to start because the Point to Point Protocol failed to initialize. %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

B.

The Remote Access Connection Manager service terminated with the following error:

Besides that there is a problem with the new AccessPoint that is stuck on: "loading content". If that has to do with the Windows Authentication, which some one mentions in connection with a IIS setup, how do we correct that in a setup with a QV Web Server? Or could it bee .NET Framework 4 related, that is: version 4 is not the one being used?

The later problem with "loading content" could be related to the first QVS-instability, I guess.

The is no firewall between the 2 windows servers.

Are you using the same licence for the live and test server?

Each server must have a separate licence otherwise the server service will stop after about 10 minutes in turn.

If you need temporary licence to transfer your system to new hardware, speak to your reseller who can get a temporary licence key.

If you want to have a test server alongside the live server permanently, then you will need to buy a test server licence, again speak to your reseller.

Some more information:

We have tried to re-install the TEST QVS and QV Webserver, without any luck.

Earlier we had some problem on the production environment related to the DNS, and we had to change the QMC system setup from using servername to IP-addresses.

To avoid that problem, we did the same change on the TEST environment.

We also tried to make a fully isolated TEST setup, that is: Full Single Install on the Windows 2003. Here something strange happened, when we in the QMC tried to change from servername to ip-address: QMC reported back that a new (Cluster) node was added, which make little sense since we haven't got at Cluster license.

When you re-installed the test server setup, did you remove or rename the QlikTech folder in ProgramData, as this will hold some setting files and licence details after the uninstall, and so may not give you the clean install you were expecting.
