Publisher publishes old version of qvw

Hi

For our QV Publisher and Server, both 11.2 SR3, we have folders:

  • Source
  • User

We also use QV Source Control with SubVersion.

This method of Publisher does not work:

  • Change a qvw in DEV
    • Save
    • Check In Pending Changes into Source Control
    • Close the qvw
  • Open the qvw in the Source Folder
    • Get Latest Changes from Source Control
    • [One can see that any changes appear in the Dashboard / Script]
    • Close the qvw
  • In QMC run the task set up to reload & distribute the task
    • The date / time of the qvw in the User Folder gets updated
    • But the changes do not appear in the qvw in the User Folder
      • This is the crux of the problem

But it does work doing the same but adding one extra step :

  • Change a qvw in DEV
    • Save
    • Check in Pending Change into Source Control
    • Close the qvw
  • Open the qvw in the Source Folder with QV Desktop
    • Get Latest Changes from Source Control
    • [On see that any changes appear in the Dashboard / Script]
    • Reload the qvw manually in QV Desktop, save changes and close
    • Close the qvw
  • In QMC run the task set up to reload & distribute the task
    • The date / time of the qvw in the User Folder gets updated
    • Now  the changes do not appear in the qvw in the User Folder

Can anybody shed any light in this ?

I found it hard to describe the symptoms, so please do ask for me to clarify anything if required.

Best Regards,     Bill

Aaaahh !!  I see what you are saying now. [Sorry for not understanding the first time].

To summarise, the process I have the issue with is:

  • Open qvw
  • Via QlikView Source Control, Get Latest Version
  • Save Changes and Close
  • After this the issue happens

But if then I manually Open, Reload, Save Changes & Close then all is ok - which is exactly what you are saying.

However are you also saying that an Open & Close with a reload would also sort it ?

I am probably going to put this past QlikView Support, would you mind if I add the url to this thread to the Case ?

Many Thanks,      Bill

Hi

Yes, open and close is enough.

We haven't added a case yet to QT support. So please do so.

I think it is not an easy task to fix this..

Many thanks for your help.

It is reassuring to hear that I am not the only one having this issue, as I was started to doubt my sanity.

I'll open a case with QlikTech and post the case number on this thread.

As the issue has the work around which, whilst annoying, does work, I would be happy with a response of 'Yup, we [QT] are aware of this and will address it sometime in the future, but maybe not till QlikView.Next.'

Many Thanks Again,      Bill

It needs to be saved too.

So: Open, save, close.

Changes from -prj populates when opened, and the new version needs to be saved.

Thanks Bill.

I will write it down for follow up.

Magnus is right, save is needed of course.
