Section Access - Reduction field problem - straight from example

Hi All,

I was trying to use the reduction field in section access.  To test it I copied the example from the 'Introduction to Section Access' document from Qliktech.  Unfortunately, when I login to the app as any of the users I get all of the information so the reduction hasn't worked.

I have attached a test doc to show this problem.

Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?

You'll need to enable data reduction on the document.

Go to Settings > Document Properties..., go to the Opening tab, and select "Initial Data Reduction Based on Section Access".

Thanks Kwok,

I do that, but can't make it stick?!  I click apply then OK, then if I open document properties again it is unchecked again!  Any ideas?

Hi,

goto Document Properties->Opening->check Initial Data Reduction Based On Section Access,

also check Strict Exclusion

Obvious but... You have to save the document after checking the "Initial Data Reduction..." option and close any QlikView instance in order to reopen the document and view the reduction in action.

This is a document specific setting, did you make sure you saved the document afterwards?

Yes I did save it and reopen, but that check box does not stay checked...  bizzare... I might try recreating the file and see if that helps.

Hi,

You have to completely close your qlikview application.

then again open qlikview.

hope this will help you.

I know this seems ridiculous but I can't get it to stay checked.  If I open the properties, check the box, apply and OK - I open the properties immediately afterward and the box is unchecked.  So if I save and close and then reopen it still isn't checked and when I try using a user it doesn't reduce data so it definitely isn't working.  I've copied and pasted my load script into a new document but the same problem exists.

Is there another check box somewhere I need to check/uncheck to allow me to use THIS checkbox??
