QMC does not open on Windows Server 2008 for some users

My problem is similar to what is discussed here,

http://community.qlik.com/message/409048#409048

The message some users get is the same "Webpage cannot be displayed"

Both my user name and these users' usernames are in the Qlikview Administrators Group and in the Administrators Group on the machine.

However, I see the shortcut for Qlikview Management Console from Programs - all programs - Qlikview (Start Menu) and they don't.

I open QMC without problems and they can't. IEEC is off for Administrators (even when it is off for users the problem stayed).

I have installed QVS 11.2 SR 5 with my user but the services are running with a local system user (machine administrator)

Can you help? These users are power users and they need access to QMC.

Thank you

Take a look if Windows Firewall is ON. Open 4780 TCP Port.

Verify if you have your browser to pass through proxy. Put in the exception list.

Thnak you but firewall is off for all profiles and port is open

I don't know how to check for the proxy use, but I solved my problem by following suggestions in this thread

http://community.qlik.com/thread/22502

alias name for localhost isn't working for these users. if they write http://server-ip-address:4780/qmc they get access

Are they trying to access QMC from server or from client machine?

Hi Andreas, they log into the server, that is why they write localhost in the address bar,  just like it is written in the target path of the shortcut for the QMC in the start menu.

This shorcut is not visible for these users either, which is very strange

Hi Fernando, for security reasons they don't want to add the site to Trusted sites, but my user also has the same setting - I have not added it to trusted sites and I can open QMC without problems . In the link above that I cited, Steve Dark says that reference to localhost can go awry in some ways - I don't lknow how this can happen, but obviously this is the reason why it is not working for them.
