Qlikview Server Section Access Issues

Please Help me!!!

We have just gone-live with one of our dashboards.

I am not able to figure out the rootcause for the errors and resolution.

1) First Admin users were able to access the document

2) Section Access users were not able to access

Error Message: Failed to open document, You don't have access to this document

3) Then i saw in event viewer, The Error Message was: Failed to create account IQVS_MRB

4) I saw on the community that this user is used to given anonymuos access.

5) So, i allowed anonymous access and created this local user IQVS_MRB and added it to qlikview administrators group.

6) After restart of the QV services , my section access users were able to login

7) One day later, I am facing the same problem.

😎 Now, I see the below error messages in the Events log file.

Seems you are using IIS pool as default or other instead of Qlikview application pool / your qlikview application pool is running on different identity.

Make sure you are running with the correct log on in iis.

Hi,

In addition to that, make sure that you are running only one web server of either QlikView Web Server or IIS, because although you can have both installed and running in the same computer, they will not work properly.

If you don't have any special requirement to this extent, I'd recommend you to use QlikView Web Server with your QlikView deployments.

Hope that helps.

Dear Karthikeyan and Miguel,

Thanks for your responses. I am not running IIS on the server. Infact it has not been installed.

I dont know what happened, but it resolved itself after troubling me one more time after posting my question here.

SInce, it was working fine. I haven't made any changes to anything. Never restarted the services also.

But, now another application has gone live and I see the error resurfacing for the new document. Previous document is working fine.

DO you think restarting qv services be of help? I am concerned if I restart it might affect something that's already working.

Regards

Santosh

Hi Santosh,

Given that, I'd bet on a network/domain issue, as long as there are accounts that cannot log in, irrespective what you do in QlikView. Check with your IT people to make sure that everything is all right on their side.

By the way, I don't think that restarting services would help at all, unless some modification has been made to the account of the user running the services, in which case you should first check that this account has proper permissions (domain account, local Administrators group membership in place, password not changed).

Hope that helps.

Hi Miguel / Bill

The issue seemed to have resolved itself and not seeing the errors.

Can you help me on another topic?

http://community.qlik.com/thread/48337

I am trying to implement QV webserver in DMZ. I have an EE QV Server License v 11.2

Below is my configuration

INTRANET:
QVS in NTFS
QDS
DSC
QMC
QVWS in NTLM (http and port 80)

DMZ SERVER:
only QVWS installed and authentication set as NTLM
QVWS pointing to above QVS and above DSC in QMC in QV Server
QVWS using (HTTPS and 443, server certificate configured)

From Intranet, It is working fine and AD users are able to login and open QV Documents.

From Internet, I am able to open the URL from Internet. But only Local users of DMZ Server Machine are able to login and not the AD users.

Can you help me if i am technically correct or not.
Is it possible to enable AD user Authentication through DMZ webserver. Can you guide me on the configuration as to which qlikview service enables authentication.

Hi.

I have a similar problem and it's in the authorization. When connected through the Internet, you see a login / password at the windows NT authentication, enter a non-domain (MSterligov) and get access. Through the DMZ all the way, you do not get prompted for a login / password or receive a request at the QV and the need to enter the domain (contozo \ MSterligov). I plan to change the welcome page, that automatically inserts the domain.

Hi,

I have a similar scenario with SBE QVS license v11.20.

QVS machine is in LAN in domain using AD and QVWS machine is in DMZ not in domain.

How is possible to enable AD users authentication through DMZ web server ?

A possible solution could be using certificates ?

Can someone guide me to the right direction ?

Many thanks in advance.

Best Regards

you can read the 'QlikView Server Reference Manual.pdf’' at:

'

Server Shared Files

There are multiple objects available for user collaboration and sharing through QlikView Server:

  • Bookmarks
  • Sheet objects, including charts
  • Reports
  • Annotations

Each of these objects may be defined as a user object, available to authenticated users, regardless of access method or location, or a shared object, available to all users of the document through QVS.

The objects are configured and managed using QlikView Management Console (QMC).

Once QVS is enabled for server objects, any of the QVS object settings are checked, and the document is opened in QVS, a special database file is created and maintained in the same location as the QlikView document. The file has the same name as the QlikView document, but a .Shared file extension.

Example:

  • QlikView document: Presidents.qvw
  • QVS share file: Presidents.qvw.Shared

If the name of the QlikView document is changed, the .Shared file has to be manually renamed to match before opening the renamed QlikView document in QVS. This preserves the shared objects attached to the document.

'

to solve the issue you can go to the qlikview document folder, delete all the qvw and all the ‘.qvw.Meta’ and ‘.qvw.Shared’ files in the documents folder and re apply the license, that will make it possiable for you to set the 'Allow this document to be loaded by the QlikView Server'

notice:

You can only 'Allow this document to be loaded by the QlikView Server' as the 'NUMBER_OF_DOCUMENTS' in your server license.
