Excel export in Test Server

Hi everybody,

I have a question regarding Excel exporting and Test Server, Is there any limitation for exporting data to excel (using the export button and/or right click) when using a Test Server?

My question is because in a project I'm currently working on, I've received complaints from users telling that they are not able to export data to Excel, no matter if they connect through IE Plugin or Ajax Client. I've done tests myself and these are the results:

  • When I tried to export data from IE Plugin, Excel opens but no data is copied
  • When I tried to export from Ajax, I get this error message:

error xls export.png

Also, I've checked that this option is allowed in server:

server excel.png

So what I think is that

  • Either is a bug
  • something's wrong with network config/security
  • or maybe it is indeed not possible to export data from a test server (however, I searched in documentation there's nothing about this possible limitation)

Hope somebody could help with this question,

thanks and best regards,

Jaime

For some reason the option "Alternate Temporary Files Folder Path" was enabled and besides was targeting to a folder that no longer exists. As far as I know that option is only useful if you have a cluster environment (which is not our case). In clusters you need to set up a shared temporary folder in order to get excel exports and pdf report printing working, I just removed the folder that was specified under that option and now is working

Hi,

What version of QlikView are you running and what OS? The error you are seeing is normally a network issue.

Hi,

Could also be an authentication issue. Are you using any custom authentication? Check to see if it works locally on the machine with the default user too.

I'm using Windows Server 2008 R2. I don't think it's a network issue, we also have the production server and there's no problem with the excel exporting (it has the exact same configuration as the test server)
