Mahasweta,

There is no "free version" of QlikView Server/Publisher; the only free product offered by QlikTech is QlikView Desktop - Personal Edition. The documentation for QlikView Server does describe an "evaluation license", but this is only used with potential customers and partners who are working with the QlikTech sales team to evaluate QlikView distribution options, and is not available as a general download.

If you are working with QlikView and would like to discuss deploying it at your company (as a customer) or becoming a partner with QlikTech, please contact me and I will put you in touch with our sales or alliances team, respectively.

Thank you for your question!

You might see the download link in the downloads page. If you don't see it (you're not a partner or some kind of associate) it seems you cannot download QVS.

I am planning upgrading from v8.20 to v9.sr2. I need to install this latest version for testing to a test server but am told that I need to purchase a test/development licence to do this - no temporary licences can be issued.

Is this the official upgrade strategy from Qliktech? I am going to look a bit stupid asking for the £10,000 for the test licence - the obvious question will be 'what do we pay the annual maintenance for then'?

Any comments?

Gordon

Hi Gordon

We are facing a similar problem with the added complication that we are also upgrading our hardware...

We received a similar type of quote for test / development license.

Our plan is to copy the scripts and reports out then close down our current server.

We will then re-install on the new server and relicense / test over the weekend...

Our fall back is the old server which we will clear down once we are fully up and running...

Please let us knwo how you get on....

Hello Paul,

Best of luck with your upgrade - personally I hate doing upgrades over the weekend as it leaves you without any technical support for the most trivial of problems....

Be careful that you dont have both servers running with the same LEF at the same time on the network as they will apparently reboot every minute.

I'll let you know how I get on but personally I am not very happy with QlikTechs strategy - never heard of this before!

Gordon

In our case, we asked a temporary QVS9 Licence in order to install and test the new server.

When the server is in prod, then, we'll change the key to the production one.

We did the same thing here when we upgraded both hardware and QV versions - asked for a temporary license. Let your sales rep know that you just need a temporary license to get your new platform checked out. The Test/Dev license is intended for those who want to permanently maintain a separate server for development and testing.

Well, our 'Sector Manager' refused point blank for a temporary key just for upgrade testing.

Nice consistency, Qliktech.

You can only buy a test licence for QlikView server but not for QlikView Publisher. Isn't that a strange strategy?
