Hi

Both are meant for monitoring purpose.

I would suggest you to go with Governance dashboard as it has many more advance feature that help you monitoring your environment.

Hi ASHFAQ,

Thanks for quick response.

For example, There is a cluster Called QVCLUSTER which has Server A as Publisher, Server B as QVS, shared qvw files & IIS and Server C as QVS.

What is the best server to install QGD on?

How to find the QVS log file location for each servers and how to point the those paths in QGD?

Thanks!

Hi,

Most of the log files for a cluster environment should be on a Shared Location. You can check the QMC for the location of them. Attached is a rough document on installing the dashboard on clusters.

Hi BB,

Thanks for your reply.

In the QMC(the cluster without AD), the logg folder path show C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer(Publisher) and there is no log file inside which means all the QV Servers are logging locallly(C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer(QVS)). When trying to add all the paths for QVS(eg. 1.\\1.1.1.2\QlikViewServer & 2.\\1.1.1.3\QlikViewServer) in QGD, it didn't reload and if we add only one QVS(\\1.1.1.2\QlikViewServer) then reloading is ok.

please kindly advise how we can setup QGD in this scenario.

Hi,

In a cluster environment it is best to have all the logs in the same location. I have never tried the Governance Dashboard with your setup.

Hi,

We managed to get all the QVS logs in one shared location accessabled by all QVSs and QGD is running.

the problem is not able to provision in QMC to allow viewing by user even though QGD.qvw is transfer to shared root folder which all our apps are residing.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

This has to be a permission issue. I would check the permissions (File Level NTFS) on the QVW.

HI,

One more thing. You can always put it where your source documents are and have publisher run it and do a distribution.
