How did you learn scripting in Qlikview?

Hey Guys!

I have recently got familiar with qlikview and enjoyed using it. the problems is all the scripts are being used in Expressions..I am an IT Engineer and Expert in SQL, but i don't know how to script in Qlikview. Is it like the scripts in Excel?  i don't know that either!

is there any useful material to learn scripting in Qlikview from basic to advanced?

thank you for your guidance

QlikView Scripting by Matt Floyd, the one you recommended earlier, There are not much to learn from this book, I already have QlikView for developers, but i needed a book which focuses on Scripting, not all the design concepts. I have problem with the syntax of qlikview scripts.

If the book is free, that's great, but if it isn't I'd much rather you didn't go giving away illegal copies.

I bought the book and did not use it. so what the harm in giving it to a friend?

Because you sent a copy of the book - if you sent the physical book in the post, I apologise.

I presume the author and publisher of the book would quite like to sell more than one copy and not see a multiplicity of 'free' copies floating about.

Hi arman,

I'm a bit late in adding to this discussion 😉

I used to work with Excel before, then with another software that had a scripting language. I know some basic SQL, but not much

<=> In my eyes, though, it's like learning languages, no, it's easier - most scripting_languages (including SQL and whatnot) use plain_english. The "vocabulary" - or syntax, or the commands - are different, but the general possibilities you have are m.o.l. the same in each and every programming language there is.

The book "QlikView 11 for Developers" is also an excellent source of information - not only for getting started - I keep going back to the book and re-reading one thing or another and it still gives me new ideas.

Best regards,
