QMC Jobs failing continuously - Reason?

Hi All,

Suddenly some the data model jobs are failing continuosly. Though their parental jobs: Raw QVD Generators reloaded successfully, but these jobs are failing. Till Yesterday evrything was running fine with no errors. BUT unable to figure out the issue now. Please help.

  • Have restarted the QV services THRICE
  • There are no credentials/section access to the documents. Everything was running fine till yesterday.
  • raw QVD generators are running fine and task moving to data model jobs.
  • Checking the Log files of the Data Model QVWs, they seem to be loaded fully, but are not moving to next Job in QMC.
  • Below is the scrrenshot for reference.

Hi,

It could be due to one of the things below as quoted by eric

  1. Are there any another task using the same files?
  2. Could be due to antivirus make sure to skip those files from scanning
  3. Some inconsistencies in that directory. It is fine to stop the QDS service, remove/backup the content of C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\DistributionService\ and start QDS again. The folder content will be automatically recreated and any temporary files would be cleared. The directory holds temp files, reference files for the repository and logfiles. No task settings would be lost, only task history.

Hi Ashfaq,

Thanks for your quick suggestions. Below are my answers:

  1. Are there any another task using the same files? NO
  2. Could be due to antivirus make sure to skip those files from scanning NO Antivirus
Working on this to check if this helps

But wondering, How come the Raw QVD Generators and Transformed QVD Generators are running fine; ONLY Data Models are failing.

This never happened till yesterday!

I seem to remember having an issue like this once and the reason was because there were too many scheduled jobs running to the max setting you have,

I think its defaulted to 4 in QMC but you can change it to two or three lest than the number of processors you have on your server box.

Maybe nothing but perhaps it could be a check you make.

Thanks Richard for some help.

But suddenly it got successful automatically after some time. I didn't do anything to resolve. The tasks ran automatically.

Strange!!!!

Did you adjust the Windows desktop heap? There is a limitation in Windows so you can just run around 8-9 Tasks. Check Server Manual:

Simultaneous Tasks

By default, four QlikView tasks can execute simultaneously on a node. The recommended maximum is eight simultaneous tasks per node. If more than ten tasks have to be executed simultaneously on a node, modifications are necessary in the Windows registry to change the desktop heap size to allow for more simultaneous tasks.
