Error:The app file you are attempting to load from is corrupt

Hello.

I was making a dashboard with Qlik Sense. I had just linked a new table to my data model in the script. Reloaded data, 0 errors, everything seemed ok. When i tried opening my App again it was loading for a long time, then my mouse started to glitch and the fans on my computer sped up! The whole computer ended up crashing and I had to do a hard restart.

When I got back into Qlik Sense and tried to load my application this error occurred:

corrupt.PNG.png

I can't seem to find any way to recover the application from this. No version control, no safe mode?

Any ideas as to how I can recover the file, and why this happened?

The data sett i was working on was fairly large, a few tables had about 15 mill rows. It is possible that I did something wrong when I connected that last table leading to an insane memory/hardware usage. But still there should be a way to recover from this. I realize that it's early in the first release, so maybe this is something that will be handled in a future release.

Thanks for any help/advice you can give me

Regards,

Vegard

Hi,

There are no built-in capabilities for source control in Qlik Sense Desktop.

The best way to find out what happened is to check Windows Event Viewer along with Qlik Sense logs, and see what caused that crash (memory, out of space in disk, other software running at the same time, file deadlocks...).

In this case, if the QVF file is damaged, there is little we can do.

It does sound like there has been some file corruption. I had a similar issue but it actually recovered by itself after a restart. Is the .QVF file huge or are you able to attach it to your post? You can also send directly to me by email, address is in the profile. I would like to log this with our developers internally.

Thanks for fast replies.

I got nothing useful from windows event log.

From Session_Engine.log in Sense this error kept repeating

"Socket closed by client"

It is referring to the crashed app, and at the approximate time of the crash.

The .QVF file is at 460mb.

[removed and forwarded internally]

Vegard

I am getting an exception while opening the file stating it's a "possibly corrupt file." I will forward it to our developers to see if there is anything we can do to recover it or improve this behavior. Thanks for your input on this and for helping us improve the product!

As an additional note. I now recreated the same scenario in regular Qlikview Desktop/Developer 11.2 and I did in fact (do to lack of database documentation) connect the wrong tables together. In Qlikview Desktop 11.2 this just leads to the chart which had the wrongly connected field loaded getting the error "Out of memory". While the same scenario in Sense obviously can lead to the whole app getting corrupt.

Hope this helps

Ive got the same issue with a very small file

Luckily it did not take too long to set up.

Is it possible to save a backup version. With QV I save as different names (v2 v2 etc) and always have a backup copy. Can this be done with Qlik Sense

EDIT What I mean is save as different names. There is a save button unlike QV not a save as button. Is there a reason for this?

Aslo added. Qlik Next server 0.95. After reboot do not open with same error built-in applications (License and Operations monitor)

Is it possible to repair them without import from other server?
