Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me the different modes in which QVS run ?? like DMS Authorisation Mode and many more ..... and when these modes are used ??

Hi Nikhil,

There are only two 'modes' for QlikView Server:

• DMS mode - If Document Metadata Services (DMS) mode is selected then the QlikView Server controls access to the QlikView applications and files.
• NTFS mode - If NTFS mode is selected, then the Windows Operating System controls access to the QlikView files.

In most cases, NTFS mode is preferable.  DMS mode must be used if users are not authenticating via Windows AD or NT.  Otherwise NTFS is preferable.

Hey Terry,

THanks. And if i am not wrong in case if we want to add any number of other users then DMS is used because in NTFS we have to create more accounts on windows which is not possible. Am i right ??

Yes, you are right.  I didn't mention that since it's a bit of a complicated idea, but you're correct.
