Showing total along with partial total for some rows

Hi,

Can we show total along with the partial total which is for only some of the rows?

Pls find attached an exmaple here with for better understanding.

Any pointers would be of great help.

ya, we can show total along with the partial total.

you can create a pivot table with metric1, metric2 and metric3 as dimensions. then ,on the presentation tab of the chart properties dialogue select "show partial sums" for each field(dimension) and also select "subtotals at bottom" on the presentation tab itself.

Yes.

But i have only one dimension and want to show totals along with partial total. Here by term partial total i mean, total for only some of dimension values that is only for some of the rows.

To calculate partial total we need group by clause right.

Is a group by posible on single set of dimension value?

I mean if u were to frame a sql statement for calcuclating total, partial total then what will it be?

Even if I were to frame a sql statement for calculating partial total, in this case it won't be useful just because the rows for which i want to calculate the partial total are dynamic. I mean end user can change the rows for which partial total is displayed. 🙂
