Upgrade to Qlikview 11.8

Hi All,

We are planning to apply a patch upgrade to Qlikview 11.8 from the current 11.2 version. Did any of you have already migrated and is there any known issues ?

Thanks,

SIjo

Hi Sijo,

upgrade from 11.2 srx to 11,2 sr8 is straight forward.

You just have to run the installer --> Click next --> next --> Next and finish.

But Prior to that to be on a safe side. I suggest you to take backup of QlikView end user folder and source folder if any

(in case you have publisher)

Take backup of C:\Programdata\QlikTech folder

After upgrade just make sure to restart QlikView server once.

Have a look at below thread too.

Migration from 11.20.12018.0 to most Recent Version

Hope it helps.

Hi Asfaq,

One more query on the above..

We can Download QlikView Server 11.20SR8 for the correct Windows Server platform and run the installer. When the installer detects an existing installation, it will automatically upgrade the server, while keeping the existing configuration. Is this right ?

Note : I was looking for a patch to upgrade, but got the above information from community, hence just want to confirm before applying it.

Thanks,

Sijo

Hi, thank you for this.

If I just run the new version setup file, does it detect that we have:

- C:\ProgramData\QlikTech (Data is on C-Drive on the server)

- D:\Program Files\QlikView (Binaries are on D-Drive on the server)

I do not like to make a completely new installation.

Thank you!

Hi Ashfaq,

Thanks for the details. We have successfully migrated our staging server without any issues. We will be doing the same in production after two weeks.

I want to create a backup plan for prodcution in case any issues happen.

If I restore the backup of "C:\Programdata\QlikTech folder" and re-run the previous server verion (i.e  QV 11 SR2) , will my server be same as previous? Please advise.

Thanks,

Sijo
