I can't tell you what is the price to get only for learning purposes, but it would be best to reach the sales team for further help about prices ( http://www.qlik.com/#%2Fus%2Foverlay%2Fcontact-sales).

I can't say for sure if there's so sort of discount just because is for learning purposes, again best to reach sales team for those questions.

QlikSense server itself is free...........

.....  but you need some QlikSense client tokens to actually use it.  Minimum quantity of tokens that can be bought is 5 and they each cost about the same as a QlikView Named User CAL.

Thanks for the update.  I thought that might be the case.

I think I will stick with the qlik sense desktop for the time being and think more about the

qlik sense server when the company migrates or I start contracting

Mark - a great place to get started learning the particulars of the Qlik Sense platform (server) for free is here: New to Qlik Sense Platform Videos - it might not be hands on for you - but it will greatly give you an understanding of how it works and how to do things with it - including the management, administration, governance and security capabilities.
