select gray field (unavailable field) override other selections

Hi, I have a problem of retaining my filters after click an gray (unavailable )field, it actually will override my previous selection

What I doing is:

In my Claim report

I select Agent (which only have claims in 2013 and 2014), so in Year listbox only 2013 and 2014 are white (available) and other years gray out. My problem is I can still click those gray-out year, this will override my previous selection of Agent. It will show claims of All Agent in this year.

This will make confusion. I' d like always maintain the previous selections. and if by chance clicked gray field, it will show either 0 or unavailable, Is there way to do that?   I dont what use 'Hide Excluded". Because by using that, if i select 2014 , then year 2013 will hide too, so I will not able to switch from 2014 to 2013.

Thanks

Mei

This sounds to me like a user training issue.

If the users understand what the gray shading means and still decide to click on it, they won't be surprised when their previous selections are cancelled.

Try using a master calendar instead if your are using a year field from your main table

You can set the option 'always one selected' for the agent field or lock the selection via a trigger. This will prevent the selection of unavailable years for the selected agent

Try to block the selection on the Agent : the selection will become "blu".

click on any field which u want and go to   selections (before document properties)> and click on set clear state .

now u can make any changes  and go for clearall   but ur first selection always will be there it won't clear until  u go for  reset clear state.

example:

year

2013

2014  --  u have

select on 2013  go to >selections>click on set clear state>  then click on 2014 > click on clear but ur 2013 selections always remain >until u go for reset clear state
