Hi,
I have two tables that have the same field name but when I load them and attempt an outer join Qlikview is creating new rows not merging the data. This has been checked by brining in a RowNo() field.
The field in question is called PARTY_KEY.
I have tried setting the format to num and text for both tables but the data still does not merge.
Any thoughts on how to force a join?
Thanks
Stuart
Couls you give some sample values of PARTY_KEY from both tables that you think should be the same but do not join properly.. Including any leading or trailing spaces.
Hi Bill,
In both tables they are just normal numbers like 61, 81 etc. There are no leading or trailing spaces.
Hmm
When i do the join in a 'clean' app it works fine.
Im actually trying to join it to a table that I have already joined things to previously so there must be something else i need to work around

That table will have all the fields of the two source tables. Perhaps the table you want to join to it has more than one field in common with it than only the field PARTY_KEY.
yes they do have more than one field common.
i'll have to try and think of how to fix the data upstream of this problem
