How to make Qlikview access point url available outside my windows server

How to make qlikview access point url available outside my windows server

I have installed qlikview on a dev windows server.

My requirement is to access that url outside of the windows server.

Reason being - lot of ppl don't have to login to the windows server in order to view the reports.

I believe this needs some kind of webserver or IIS server. Can any one please provide or help with the steps regarding how to achieve this?

You might need a external server like a DMZ setup.

Hi,

first of all there are different QlikView installation types.

  • QlikView Client
    • the Client can be used on Desktop and ist free for personal use (Personal Edition)
    • To share QV APP with other users (other QV Clients) you should have a license even for the client
    • this client ist not able to "publish" the Qv Apps to the WEB
  • QlikView Server
    • if you want to setup a server you need this QlikView Software
    • You should do a full installation (that includes a "light wight") IIS
    • To use this you will need some licenses or a evaluation license

I think that should be a short introduction. I will attach two pictures that will show one of the setup screen.

That will show the parts of QVServer.

If you are at the state to Install the server, maybe you should check for documentation of the setup process. I think you will find good ones by searching here. Or just ask for more information at this Thread.

I first achieved this by opening port 80 between our desktop range of ips to the Qlikview windows server.

Port opening to be done by your network admins.

http://servername.domain/qlikview/index.htm

But opening port 80 isn't recommended as ppl can see the ldap creds clearly as text.

So for https you need to open port 443 between the desktop range of ips to the qlikview windows server.
Port opening can be done by your network admins. Once you have done that Go to Qlikview mangagement console

in System -> Setup -> General -> Enable "use https" and specify the port number 443.

https://servername.domain/qlikview/index.htm

Please let me know if it worked for you, as it has worked for me!
