GPS Locator Script / Service in the demo application "GPS Store Finder"

Hi,

It seems to be possible as presented in the "GPS Store Finder" application (here) to locate the position of the user, only in AJAX mode, with the help of the web browser.

The question is : how is it possible ? what must we do to put it in place ?

My first impression is that the solution is based on GPS variable or paramater transmit by opendoc.html + javascript to qlikview application... something like that.

Any idea ?

Hi Roberto.

If you create an input box with the 2 variables, are they changed to the Location Values?

Mind that the extension is running a javascript block in your browser, and it ask's permission to get your location. Are you seeing this popup at anytime?

If not, can you be sure you have the extension correctly installed?

Hi Miguel.

No values appears in the input box when running the app.

No popup appears to in any of the devices that I used.

About the installation, do I have to do any other thing besides of double clicking the qar file?

Roberto,

You need to unzip it and place it in the right folder. I think it's not enough  to double click the qar, since it will only create the extension in the user  folders.

To be correctly installed your extension has to be under ...\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions.

Be sure to place the extension under Document.

Finally, if you created a new document, you must enable the extension for that document in Qlikview Dektop in the Documents tab > Extensions. You must install the extension before this, so that it appears in the left panel. You can install multiple extensions for the same document, but you have to check precedence between them because they will all be called when you update the document objects.
