Problem with license

Hi experts,

we have a problem with applying license on our server

It seems that server name is too long - i've found some issues here:

http://community.qlik.com/thread/54519

http://community.qlik.com/thread/64729

I have 2 questions:

1. could it be some other problem

2. where can I find some official information about server name requirements

Thanks in advance!

To activate License it needs internet. Is that server is connected to internet?

Of course. Internet access,  port 4780 is open, firewall is disabled, the user in the local Administrators and QV Administrators group. It is also generating lef - still the same error.

To activate a license you do NOT need internet connection.

In case of no connection to the internet, you do need the LEF though, which you can get by entering your license code in this URL on a PC that is connected to the internet, copy-paste it into a TXT file and take it to your server:

LEF is generated automatically.

I input generated LEF with all other required information and get an error: failed to connect to server (see the screensot attached to the question)

Did you restart after finishing the installation and adding the Qservice account to the local admin group?

Hi Andre!

Thank you for your reply.

I've pasted link to this page into my question. Maybe, you didn't notice. But I have another questions, i'll repeat:

1. could it be some other problem

2. where can I find some official information about server name requirements

Yes,

you're right sorry for that.

The only thing i saw until now was the content of the page 25 of manual of the server instalation...

"Licensing

The licensing is used to authenticate QlikView Server and allow it to run on a specific machine.

Go to System>Licenses in QMC, select a QlikView Server or Publisher, and fill in the Serial number and

Control fields on the QlikView Server License or QlikView Publisher License tab (depending on whether

QlikView Server or Publisher was chosen).

QlikView Server/Publisher License tab in QMC

The License Enabler File (LEF), lef.txt, for QlikView Server is automatically saved in

%ProgramData%\QlikTech (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application

Data\QlikTech on pre-Windows Vista systems).

The PubLef.txt file for QlikView Publisher is saved in

%ProgramData%\QlikTech\ManagementService\Publisher LEF (C:\Documents and

Settings\All Users\Application Data\QlikTech\ManagementService\Publisher

LEF on pre-Windows Vista systems).

Click Update License from Server to download a new lef.txt file from the QlikView LEF server. This is

primarily used when updating the number of Client Access Licenses (CALs).

If the LEF information cannot be accessed through the Internet, it can be obtained from the local vendor. In

that case, copy the entire lef.txt file to the location mentioned above, or paste the LEF data using the

corresponding field on the QlikView Server/Publisher License tab in QMC. Contact the local vendor for

specific instructions."

I'm sure the vendor will be able to help you.

Regards

André Gomes
