User CALs - How do they work?

Hi,

I could someone explain the User Cal and if I get the below error:

"Access denied! The server ( ServerName) has no USER CAL for your account. Please contact your system administrator!"

If I were to increase the Document CAL does this only come into affect once the next reload runs?

Thanks

The calls will be available since you increase their number by entering a serial number in server.

The reload process do not affect the calls management

Have enabled dynamic assignment of the documents CAL's?

In the QEMC, goto to user documents, then select your document and go to the licenses tab, there you can see how many docmunet cals have been assigned to the document and tick on dynamic CAL assingment.

I find it neater to enable dynamic document cals and manage the access to the document via the distribute tab in the source documents menu as it means users have less clutter in the access point

You don't need to reload the document to change Document CAL assignment. Once you assign the Document CAL (or set dynamic CAL assignment), it should be available immediately to the user. You should only allow dynamic CAL assignment if you want random authenticated users to be able to view the document. Otherwise leave that option unchecked.

Of course, you need to have enough Document CALs to assign them.

when I had that Access Denied, I want on to the Enterprise Management Console, went to the Documents tab, selected the document, went to the Document Cals and increased the Cals to 20 where it said "Number of CALs allocated to this Document:"

The user said they still could not access the document, but after the latest reload of the document which was about 10 minutes after, the user then access this on access point?

I have also got ticked the allow dynamic CAL Assignment, whatever this does?

I would disagree with the "random" part of that statement, only people who are listed in the "distribute" tab of the "user documents" section for that document will be able to access the document through the access portal regardless of the licensing applied (based on a QV9 server). Unless your are using very broad LDAP groups to distribute, it would stand to reason that if a user is not going to be assigned a CAL then there is no point them being on the distrubiton for that application in the first place as it would only serve to clutter up their access portal home page.

Hi,

I to get this message, can someone explain that if I was to delete a user document cal from one document and then add the same user to another document, why do they get the below message:

"Access denied! The server (servername) has no USER CAL for your account. Please contact your system administrator"

The only way the user gets access to the new document, is for me to go to the old document and click restore as it says that it has a Quarantined Until (UTC)* date of 31/07/2010 14:45:53

I am confused, please explain how they work as well?
