Custom login questions

We use Custom authentication for our Qlikview server and I was wondering if there is a setting somewhere that would require users to use strong password and not simple passwords, e.g combination of letters/numbers/caps/special charts as opposed to anything they like.

Please advise.

I think without a manipulation from the "change password" part maybe by wrapping it into a javascript check-routine which forced the user to a strong password there won't be a way.

As an alternatively you could remove the possibility for the user to change their password and keep the credentials central by the qv admins (I use these approach by simply replacing the link with another website which explained they have for this to contact the admin).

HI,

Are you referring to the Qlik Customer users and directory? If not they then the authentication would be outside of Qlik.

If you are doing custom authentication outside of the QV server, then you redirect user to a simple application which will validate password policy and allow user to modify.

I am referring to users on the Custom directory.

I was hoping there was a setting somewhere to force users to use strong passwords.

I am not doing it outside of the QV server.

If you are using custom directory, then in that case your directory component should be able to handle and it will be more appropriate to handle it there rather than in QV Server

Hi Amit,

I'm also looking at the "password policy" functionality supported by QlikView Server Authentication Using Custom Users.

There is nothing in the Server Reference Manual which suggests that anything of this nature is supported.

The other Authentication methods clearly do support this to varying degrees.

I'll keep looking, just in case...  😉

Such a "password policy" functionality didn't exists within qlikview but you could disable the password change possibilty for the users or customize those part - see my answer from above.
