Some of the fields' name that we are retrieving from SAP BW have changed

Hi,
we have Qlikview 11.2 SR2 and we connect to SAP BW with SAP Connector Version 5.4 and OLAP method of connection.

It is very strange but in the last days some of the fields that we are retrieving in Qlikview from SAP BW have changed however in SAP the name of the fields have not changed. It is just the first part or the last part of the name of the fields.  For example: "Sales Quant" instead of "Sales Quantity" or  "Invoiced date" instead of "(INV) Invoiced date"
This behaviour is happening for some SAP BW cubes.
Could you please help us with this strange issue?
Thanks in advance.

Did you check with the BW team? maybe some of the InfoObjects Descriptions where changed and thus appeared differently in QlikView

Thanks,

Yaniv

Yes, we checked with the BW team but the InfoObjects have the same description (nothing was changed).

Do you know what can be the problem then? Any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Yoca Toca and @Yaniv Feldman,

We are currently experiencing a similar issue. Let me explain you our environment and situation.

On the first times, we were extracting directly (just connecting and making a '*' selection) the fields long descriptions from SAP BW. But after some patches implemented on the SAP BW database, that extraction changed and now, we obtain fields with both long and short descriptions.

The reason for the patches implementation was that we were using 2 versions of the SAP Connector ( 5.40 and 5.70) for different extractions and we wanted so standarize its use. But, it has not been completely successful, because one connector works much faster than the other one, depending on which cube we are extracting from.

Furthermore, the SAP BW team reported that no changes have been made upon the SAP BW cubes that we are extracting from.

So, what we need to understand which is the logic behind that field description selection, so we can react properly to this issue.

It would be grateful if someone could give us some insights and share his/her experience for this serious issue.

Thank you all and keep in touch!
