Hi,
I am using QlikView NPrinting Designer (v16.1.00) on our development server - Windows server 2012.
When trying to edit the template/report, I get the following error.
Can anyone confirm what editing software is supported?
I have OpenOffice 4.1.0 installed on the server.
OpenOffice does allow me to open the file manually (i.e. locating the file on the C drive), however, I get the above error when I try and 'Edit' the report via NPrinting.
NOTE; The template file (.nsq) was originally created on a W7 laptop. It was moved to the server thereafter for further testing and development. NPrinting outputs as expected during tests, I simply cannot edit the template...
Thanks as always,
C
I don't think OpenOffice is supported. NPrinting tries to start one of the standard MS-Office applications. I guess that the Designer ignores the file associations in Windows.
Note: you're right, automatic NPrinting report generation will work without MS-Office, but Designer needs Office to edit templates...
Nprinting needs windows office to work ok, try to install and you will be able to edit the templates menu in any format(xls, word, ppt..etc)
good luck
Fernando
--- UPDATE ---
All,
I have uninstalled OpenOffice and installed Office 2010 Standard (32-bit).
Frustratingly, I get the exact same error when I try and Edit the Template.
I have restarted the server and ensured that Excel is opening the standard Excel file formats.
Anyone any thoughts?
Thanks,
C
Hi Fernando,
After installing Office, I am still getting the same issue when I try and Edit the template.
It does however allow me to create a New template.
I wonder is it due to being on a server as opposed to a desktop environment?
Do you have any further advice?
Thanks,
C
Has your "broken" template been created with OpenOffice? What is the extension of that template?
The report is in a .xlsx format and was originally created with MS Office.
Hi, Ciaran.
I have had this when the version of MS Office used to create the original template is a different version to the one currently used by NPrinting. This does sometimes happen when you are upgrading NPrinting or MS Office.

Neil
Hi Neil,
Did you ever find a solution?
It's driving me crazy. When I need to amend a template with a new field, I effectively need to start from scratch
Thanks,
C
Hi, Ciaran.
It was a rather slow process but we basically copy/pasted the objects from the old template to a new one created using the latest version of MS Office.
Not very slick or clever but it got us round the problem.

Neil
