selection of values in listbox applies to only one sheet

Hello experts,

I am new to qlikview.

I have one dashboard and it is having 5 sheets. In a 1st sheet I have a listbox. If i select a value from that box it is impacting to all sheets. But I don't want this one. It should be restrict to that particular sheet only. I tried with Alternate states. But it is not affecting.

Pls help me on this issue.

Regards,

Kumar

Alternate state, if used correctly should do what you are asking for. Would you be able to share a sample where you can show its not working?

It is huge file,I can't upload that file.I have created alternate state in settings--document properties--.>click on alternate states. I have given name as alt_list box. After that i went to sheet properties I have selected this name from alternative drop down. for the rest of sheets as default. Pls correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Kumar,

QlikView is NOT Excel. The power of QlikView is that all sheets ARE linked together, so that filters applied in one sheet are also used when looking at different visualizations of the same data set.

The power of QlikView is that all data in a QlikView app is associated with each other. Otherwise you can have 2 separated data models within a QVW and use a separate sheet for each of them. That would be the same as working with 2 different QVW's.

So, my main question would be WHY do you want to do this?

Hi,

You can try Alternate State for this.

Or

You need to include FieldName= in all your expressions in the remaining sheets.

If you share sample file then it would be easier to provide the solution.

Hi Kumar,

I don't Know How you Implement Alternate States but make sure that all the Objects in that particular sheet are in the Same Alternate State...

you are saying that list box selection is impacting on the Entire Dashboard...

1. create 2 alternate states

2. keep all the objects in the same alternate state in that particular sheet..

for remaining all sheet objects take other state and try

hope this will help you...

I would suggest keeping the one sheet that need to respond to the selection on the alternate state and rest of them in inherited. Then create a list box for the particular field in alternate state (so you will never make a selection for that particular field in inherited state)

I hope that makes sense.

Alternate States is the best option to go with but we don't know how your using it . If you don't want the selection in one sheet to be navigated to other ..create separate Alternate states for both the sheets then you create any problem. If you have 5 different sheets create 5 different alternate states and use them accordingly .

Hope this helps.
