Hi,
I am exporting numbers from a table into powerpoint. The table in QVW has numbers in format '# ##0'. However when I export to ppt I get number in format '#.##0'. I tried exporting with default format and also defining the format in NPrinting.
The regional setting on the machine is with space as thousand separator. Export to excel works as expected.
NPrinting versions are 16IR and 15.7.
Thanks for your help,
Matus
can you send a copy of your qvw or a test version with the numbers formatted as you described above?
also, if you are dragging a field from the table into the tempalte and you are changing the format in Nprinting, make sure to uncheck 'keep source formats' in the nprinting properties of taht field
I attached an example file with outputs in ppt (incorrect separator) and excel (correct separator). Funny enough now the export looks different - I get ',' as thousand and '.' as decimal.
Thanks,
Matus
One of the properties in the Excel tempalte to look at is the 'keep source formats' for the table or the specific fields. If that field is checked, the format as defined in the QlikView application should remain as-is. If you uncheck it, it then takes the format of the cell in Excel.
If you jsut export the table to Excel (without NPrinting), the table looks just like the sample you sent, which indicates how the table is being exporting. If I reformt the cell using the format you have defined in the QlikView appliation, it does not support spaces between the number (# ##0). Could it be due to a lnaguage setting in Excel to support that format.
If I right click on the object in QlikView and copy the object or the image and paste into PowerPoint, the image looks exactly the same as in your application.
I jsut created a little .nsq file using your QlikView application and can duplicate.
One item to try is to bring the table in as an image instead of a table. That method will show your table in the same formatting as in the Nprinting application
Yes, I had same issue once, it can't read format mentioned in expression, but it can take setting mentioned in Number tab.
For example for me to mention %'s in a table:
What works for me in excel is to use format '#,##0.00' (in NP) to get the default thousand and decimal separators. That means on my system I get 1 000,00
The fact that it works in excel and not in ppt seems to me like a bug.
If I create a formula with
=Num(Sum(Amount), '# ##0', ',', ' ')
it gives me the correct format. So the way for me will be to create specific formula for each cell of the table (luckily there are not so many and it is static) and then put those into table.
It is uncomfortable but better as exporting it as image - those images exported from QV just do not look right.
But then the table is restricted in size and doesn't auto-expand... Is there another option?
Update to SR3 fixed the problem. I do not know when it was fixed - I went straight from IR to SR3. I did not see it mentioned in any of the release notes.
