How can we have test environment without having test Server License

Hi,

Generally as per the development lifecycle we would be having Dev.--> QA and Prod. I here generally like no need of Test Server license etc..But here to avoid QA, how does the qlikview architecture works with only 1 Enterprise Server and 1 Publisher and if wanted to have 3 environments(DEV,QA and PROD)

Since you don´t have more than one server

DEV - Use QlikView Developer

QA - Use your server renaming your app, like   app1_qa.qvw

PROD - When you you finish your tests rename your app1_qa.qvw to app1.qvw

     qvd

QA

     appl

          sales.qvw

          .....

     qvd

     ....

PROD

     appl

          sales.qvw

          .....

Thanks for your reply !!!

I would like to map hardware in relate to your response.

We are having 3 different environments :

DEV - Use Qlikview Developer ( For Development, one Virtual Machine.

QA - Use your server renaming your app means we would be installing QV Enterprise Server only right-           Please confirm.

PROD :

When you finish your tests rename your app1_qa.qvw to app1.qvw.Is this the same QV Enterprise Server we would be using .

Kindly Confirm

Hi Swaroop,

We have separate TEST, UAT and Live environments setup using 3 installations of the QDF.

So we would have 3 installations within a folder called QDF

QDF\Test

QDF\UAT

QDF\Live

Then we would create the same containers within installation and the qvws are placed within each 1.Application folder ie:

QDF\Test\IT Monitoring\1.Application

Get the download from here:

Here is a link to the QDF videos:

Hi Swaroop,

We have QlikView Publisher as well and everything works fine.

We have our distribution service on another machine and have the same folder structure on both machines.

Try joining the QDF Group and then seeing if you can access the videos:

Thanks

Can I have any diagrams which supports your comments how it will work with two environments QA and PROD so that it would be easy for me to add to my architecture.Do we need to go with Clustering? and how does Qlikview Desktop access the Server is it through License Lease? Will it work for Ajax Client.?

Hi Swaroop,

We don't have clustering.

Works fine with Ajax client.

Best to review the documents in the QDF Group, there is good documentation with the installation.

I would test it on your own computer first.

Sorry don't have time to create diagrams.

Good luck.
