Renamed folder - loads of QMC-scheduled tasks fail - what to do?

Hi,

yesterday I have, in the context of something else, renamed a folder because I thought that might be the issue (there was a - in the folder_name).

In that folder, however, we have a lot of QlikView_apps which are supposed to run daily, but not to be used  by end_users, but only to generate some data.

Today, a whole load of QlikView_apps have failed. Strangely, the QMC (on the "documents" tab) shows me the correct current folder_name with the "_". The logs, however, stop after just a few lines and the folders with the logs (on the QlikViewServer) have the old folder_name with the "-" - I guess that is why the tasks all fail.

=> Where is the source of that error? How can I update that?

Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Hi,

I think that one is solved.

I just set all the documents to "reload - none".

=> Then I renamed the folder, and - whopp - all the tasks were scheduled again 😉

=> So I set them all to "reload - none" again, and they were all gone from the tab "Status".

<=> Only one resisted and went to the status "running", I couldn't stop it, so I had the IT_guys restart the QDS.

=> Last, I re-established all the schedules.

For now, all looks good. We'll see on Monday whether all the tasks run as scheduled again.

To be on the safe side, I set all the schedules to uneven times (like 5:11 am or 11:14 pm) to avoid conflicts with too many other tasks - based on the assumptions that people usually tend to take the easy way and set tasks to even times.

hi

you have to follow data stream throw applications , and find where a failed application try to acces to your renamed folder .

in your case, is the generated data stored in your renamed folder ?

Hi Mohammed,

sorry, I cannot quite follow you.

The generated data is not stored there, nor is the data the QlikView_app draws on located in that folder. Only the qvw itself is located there.

As I said, it's strange that the "documents" tab of the QMC displays the updated folder_name, but the folders on the QlikViewServer where the logs are stored have the name of that folder - the old one.

Okay,

I have renamed that folder a second time, so it now has the same name as before. The task in our second tool ReportToMail which was the reason I did that renaming still works fine, and a few tasks I tried in the QMC worked fine now, so I assume they will run fine tonight and tomorrow morning.

The problem we have now is that most - not all - of those tasks now show up in the QMC twice each - one is probably a zombie and will remain on the status "Failed". We had similar problems before, but I don't know what to do about that.

I just hope that they will be gone or running fine by tomorrow morning ...

P.S.: The strange thing is that now some tasks are failing and when I look into the Task_log on the QlikViewServer, I see that QlikView is trying to locate the qvw inside that folder under the name that I had given it - with only "_". Before, it was with a "-" and now I have re-renamed it (for the 2nd time in total, don't get confused) so it is with the "-" again. That is obviously why that task fails - but I have no idea why the QDS is trying to run a qvw inside a folder that does not exist (under that name) anymore, even when the QMC on another tab (the "documents" tab) is showing the correct foldername. Obviously, something somewhere is not being properly synchronized, but I have no idea what or where.

I'll wait for tomorrow morning and if the problem persists in some way or other, I will report back here.

Hi,

nothing has changed unfortunately - some tasks run again now, but for those there is like a copy - they show up twice on the tab "Status" - only once on the tab "Documents" - and the copy persists on "failed", and when I look into the task_log of those, I can see that the QDS is trying to run the task in the folder using the outdated folder_name.

Strangely, I just got an email a few minutes ago informing me of a task_failure - the QDS tried just now to run one of those tasks, and of course it failed.

I guess I will now try to

- rename the folder once more to what it was (the version with only "_") and

- set the tasks to "reload - none"

=> that should make them disappear from the tab "Status".

- Then I will reset the folder_name to what it is now and restore the reload_schedules.

I will report back here once I'm done with that.
