Manual/custom grouping

Is Qlik going to add tagging functionality on dimensions in Sense? This would allow you to compare ad hoc groups on the fly.

totaly agree. There should a be a way to group data "on the fly". I don't know why this functionality is not in the product yet.

I don't know if I understand correctly, but isn't that what "Selections" do? You have a field, select the values you want, therefore grouping the information, and then aggregate it on your charts by any dimension you want.

hi,

I am right you want to combine multiple dimension into one.. right ??

If yes you will find the option in Settings -- > Document Properties --> Group Tab.

Once the group is created user can change the dimension on fly.

Thanks for the response. That would create one group. But what if you wanted to create 30 manual groups and compare their totals from a long list? For example, sales results from market data for a category of consumer goods. You wish to group all similar brands, or product types. New products come in every week, or products get renamed. You need to somehow tag or group these items quickly and easily.

hi,

For Eg if you want to compare the sales Vs Target and you want it to be dynamic, youo can create a pivot table.

In Pivot table you just can add n no of dimension. Also if you have licenses for QV Enterprise server then we the user will be able to change the dimension over the web

eg:

You have a report of Product Category, Product , Product Size etc and we are comparing the Sales Vs Traget.

And for any reason user also want to see the Sales Rep into it then they can easily add the SalesRep dimension to it.

And you want the user to make that grouping?

Humans make errors. You will never have one version of the truth in your company. One user tagged x product as A and other as B.

Good point. For data integrity reasons, the data administrator would do the grouping. Still need a nice front end way to do it.

I'm just wondering why most competitor products see it as necessary and Qliktech don't.
