Using Qlik Sense Desktop to deliver reports to end-customers?

My name is Tiago and my company is looking to use the power of Qlink Sense to provide some data-driven reports to our customers.

Right now, we've followed this steps:

     1. Building the app.

     2. Upload it to the cloud.

     3. Use the single configurator to get a link for a sheet with enabled interaction.

Now we have some doubts about the possibility of sharing the result with clients:

     1. Is it possible to have the Qlik Sense Desktop running on some machine and give access to customers?

     2. Is it possible for the customers to login on our website and then have a link to redirect to some Qlik page?

(The single configurator link refers to localhost.....)

We are definitely using Qlik professional services but we cannot yet figure out which is the best solution for us.

Regards,

Tiago

Hi Tiago,

Qlik Sense Desktop is a free tool that is tailored for personal use. In that sense, it's not the best tool for sharing your analysis with clients. For that, Qlik sells the server-based tool, called Qlik Sense Server, which is not free though.

Another possible option could be using Qlik Cloud, however that might limit you in your use of extensions.

cheers,

Interesting question. One of which I will be looking into soon

The possibilities are

  • Upload to the cloud and invite the customer to open a Qlik account and access the relevant App. One issue at present (Qlik Enterprise might change this) with this approach is the customer will have access to all shared Apps so care is needed. And the customer might not bother with signing up and learning how to use Qlik.
  • Just snip a screen shot(s) from the desktop and send out. I have done this and it works well. But of course the customer can not drill down if they want to.
  • Embed an visual in a website I guess

These are the options that I intend to explore. There might be others. The server is one but the cost would be high for sharing with lots of customers.

Hi Oleg,

Maybe I confused the question a bit by talking about the Qlik Sense Desktop, but our general idea is to buy the Qlik Sense Server.

The issue is that we don't understand if it's possible to have only one client accessing the server (our company, as the app builder) and then have our customers accessing it only through the single configurator feature. In this case, is it possible to change the url from localhost to something referring to the machine where we have the Qlik Sense Server?

Thanks!

Tiago

Hi Robert99,

If we choose the server option, isn't it possible to have only one client (our company as the app builder) and and then have our customers accessing it only through the single configurator feature of Qlik?

In that case, the cost wouldn't be an issue for a large amount of customers or am I looking at it all wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Tiago

Hi Tiago Pires,

You can acheive both the problems you have mentioned using the QlikSense server. Infact you can achieve more than that. Like self service and sharing, security etc.

Thanks,

Sangram.

Hello Sangram,

So it's possible for our company to be the only client of Qlik Server, managing the app, and then have our customers accessing it through the single configurator feature?

Thanks,

Tiago

‌if your end goal is to share your app securely with specific end users then the server option is your best bT.  I have shared apps from desktop with clients forproof of concept dashboards and it works for that but quite an overhead to do if you are using extensions and the frequent release updates.

Hi Tiago,

Once you have the server set up , you will be able to embed the visualizations into websites using the single configurator. The viewer needs to be given a token to do so.

Thanks,

Sangram.

Have you considered a combination of the server plus cloud. It would mean uploading the App but at times this may be a better option. Although access can not be restricted to shared Apps. Hopefully cloud enterprize when released can do this
