RequestShutDown Failure?

Does anyone know what this Event Viewer item refers to?

Qlikview Distribution Service

RequestShutDown failure. Exception=System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

   at QDSMain.Clustering.ClusterNotification.Shutdown()

   at QDSMain.MainClass.TearDown()

Thanks,

B

Hi Brent,

Did you ever find an answer to this?

Any chance it's hanging on a Windows Update shutdown?

David,

Thanks for your suggestion, but we fully implement all windows updates during scheduled outage periods, including server restarts.

Hi Brent,

Sorry, I should have been more direct:

I'm having this issue also, and could use any suggestions you have if you were able to fix it.

On our client's machine, it sometimes fails the Windows Update installation, but I'm not sure that's related.

DJ

DJ,

I haven't had any definitive answer about the meaning of this message.

What frequency are you experiencing this event message?

Does it coincide with a QDS failure?

I'm having sporadic QDS failures since migrating to QV11.2 SR13 and wondered if this was a symptom, cause or unrelated.

What version are you running and are you seeing similar QDS failures?

Thanks,

B

Hi,

If i remember well this has been a bug in the past and has been fixed in SR1.

So maybe a new bug or old one coming from a sort of regression here?

Be sure to test with simple and reproductible case and recommend to report to QT if still having this error.

Hi Brent,

I don't know the exact meaning of Event Viewer error log.

But we do have faced QDS service fail few days back multiple times with reason unknown on SR12, we did was changed some properties in QDS service.

Go to Services-> QDS-> Properties-> Recovery tab-> change values of First, Second and Subsequent failures to Restart the Service.

No problem whatsoever for us after that.

Thanks for that suggestion, I also applied the recovery settings.

While this has minimized impact to my customers, I still need to understand the cause or meaning of the error message.

I'm unable to troubleshoot this issue without more information and Qlik Support has not been able to provide any guidance.

Regards,

B
