Import a file (base64 encoded) from git automation issue

I am using the qlik sense import a file from git template to try to import a file I previously exported to git. If I just download the qvf file from git and then upload to qlik it works fine but I am having an issue with the import automation. I think the get file content block is working as expected but in the import app from base64 encoded file, whenever I try to select an option that is coming from the get file content block its showing me a long list of characters, which I assume is the base64 encoded file. But shouldn't I be seeing the individual attributes as selected in that block?
