Background:

Although the capabilities of Qlik SaaS are evolving at a rapid rate, Master Items can still be challenging to create efficiently and maintain cleanly in your SaaS environment. Between your choice of automations and the manual creation process, you may wish you had the power to create Master Items through excel driven cloud stores. This would offer you the flexibility to deploy master items across Qlik instances, products, environments, and Sense apps.

Well look no further. The GINQO Master Item Manager is now Primed for SaaS

Master Item Manager vs Automations:

Although App Automations are a great milestone for Qlik SaaS capabilities, they still have some downsides.

They don't enable you to filter and select on the fly which master item definitions you want deleted or created
If you have already created master items in app, but want to export them for reuse in different apps there is no interface that allows this
Automations don't easily integrate with on-prem versions of Qlik so managing across product types is a challenge.

The Master Item Manager provides a much more efficient framework to integrate with Master Items than the default create method or App Automations.

Plus in SaaS, Master Item Manager API actions don't contribute towards your Automation API limit, which can save you money or API queries for more important business uses.

Improvements to GINQO Master Item Manager

At GINQO, we have made numerous improvements to the overall functionality and capabilities of the Master Item Manager.

Our extensions are more robust, the UI has been improved, and reverse compatibility designed for On-Prem and SaaS environments.

Ability to preview Master Items that will be affected by Create, Update, Delete

Segment colors (measure) and value colors (dimension) are now importable and exportable

What is it?

The GINQO Master Item Manager (MIM)

Is a simple utility extension that can synchronize your Master Items with those from an Excel file.
Leverages Qlik's Associate Engine
Enables you to export existing Master Items into an Excel file reuse
Allows you to preview from a table object, which Master Items you want to add into your Qlik Sense applications.
Allows you to organized Master Items into your application by means of tags, name, descriptions

Why was it built?

The Qlik Governed Metrics Service (https://developer.qlik.com/garden/57655702febb2ca54e7149d2

Has not been further developed and is not working for the latest Qlik Sense releases
Requires installation of additional software and might not meet the security requirements in your environment

Master Items are currently slow to create but frequently reused
To allow customers to reuse metrics that are frequently reused
Customers have requested this feature to manage Master Items themselves

Customers who need to make frequent changes in batch to Master Items

Good morning @maxwell_marchand ,

Are there currently any known problems with the creation of key figures in the SaaS version?
We are currently not able to create key figures via the extension - but it works without problems for dimensions.

Do you have a solution for me?

Sorry, we had used an older version of import Excel and it was probably no longer usable.
