Best practice to convert T2 dim to T1?

Is there a process or practice to convert a type 2 dim to type 1...or should I just create a new dim and integrate it into the model

We don't think you can convert type 2 to type 1, if you try to change a dimension from type 2 to type 1 you may get a message that the tables will have to be recreated.

If you have a type 2 dimension in Compose it does contain the Type 1 dimension in it. You don't need to do anything. You could create a view (Type1_vw) - pulling the OID and filtering to end date = 12/31/9999' That will provide the type 1 perspective of data and you can join to that from the OID in the fact table.
