Adding used theme to the Capabilities API

Capabilities API doesn't provide a way to know the theme that was used for developing app in the HUB.

This is extremely inconvenient creating mashups as by default it's using Sense Classic ("sense") theme.

My idea is to apply the same HUB theme automatically when app is opened in mashup scenario or alternatively provide a way to know the theme, e.g. as a property in app layout or using some new method in the API.

No, I believe not. I’ve heard people moving towards Enigma and Nebula JS, but nothing about deprecating Capabilities API.
