QlikSense Folders inside Apps

After using qlik sense since 2 years, I found out that I have around 50-100 sheets just in one app on avg depending on the APP. Is quite complicated to have those sheets organized, and will be quite handy if a Folder functionality inside an app is available.

PLEASE!!!

Never have I faced such a use case (an avg of 100 sheets in an app). But yes, this could be a great thing to add in future releases ( mto‌)

We have a Qlik Sense model used by many different groups. Each has their own perspective of the data so folder functionality to organize the sheets will be important as the user base grows.

@OmarBenSalemI agree with @AdamSantillo. I try to use Qliksense instead of excel as a Business Analyst, if you look at any folder where I have my old jobs using excel you will see many files, and some of them have many sheets. Using a Qlik Sense App has the problem that once your app start to grow in number of sheets, it gets quite unorganized, and one spends quite a lot of time searching that thing you produced 2 or 3 months ago.

From the admin user perspective, this problem grows exponentially as many users face the same problem.

Whenever I have this sort of issue in my apps, I create a few "Table of Contents/Views" sheets.

Create as many sheets as you'd need folders (One per subject). From those sheets, you can make a button (from the Dashboard extension bundle, QS November 2018) which redirect you to your different sheets.

Starting the names of these sheets with a symbol will guarantee they stay up front in the app and they're the "guide" of the application.

This definitely isn't the fastest or best solution, but it's a fix while we wait for folders, I suppose.

Lack of folders at this point is professional negligence. C'mon - everyone who uses QS for more than a year is asking for this? What is the holdup. For such an amazing tool, the lack of GUI and organization on the front end is problematic.

this is a very well know area that we want to improve. We are looking at it as part of a bigger change in the App overview page. And this should be part of the client within all Qlik Sense compositions. I will update the thread here with more details ASAP.

@Thomas_Hopp , both @AdamSantillo and I work for the same health care org. We have a Qlik Luminary on our Qlik Center of Excellence team. We also could beta test or give your team input . We have a large app with lots of different user groups as @AdamSantillo mentioned earlier in this thread. Our Qliksense app might be a good test use case for all the new features.

This is still part of our backlog and not yet confirmed for when we are able to change this behaviour. But we are working on especially self service capabilities. So I'll update this thread again ASAP and there will be a session on Mulit Developer / Multi User scenarios during Qlik World in May. Organising content within an App is obviously part of it.

What I can add is a hint into a capability that we are planning to even increase over the next couple of weeks. This is all about the ability to store different types of content in a Space. And this will allow you as a developer to cross reference content coming from other Apps and organising it this way also.

This is a good idea indeed. We also had a type of requirement with 50 sheets and half of them belong to a category like Product and half of them belong to component because of lack of such features we just ended up adding P and C to the beginning of the sheets.

This feature will be definitely be good seller

Very good idea.

I have application with a lot of sheets created by the users.

Folders could be a great solution to organize sheets.

There are extensions that can be used for this (like Kompass from ExtendBI) but I also agree that this would be great to have such feature embedded into the native QS.
