Replicate -Role that can create tasks but not endpoints

It would be very beneficial for us to have a role that allows users create tasks but not endpoints. Something similar to the designer role that already exists but without the ability to create or modify endpoint connections.

I am curious what challenges you face to request this features.

Is this too limit who has credentials to endpoints?
Or perhaps protect the configuration of a given endpoint and avoid damaging it?
Or avoid duplication of endpoints?

At the County our IT department is a separate entity from our Analytics department. Ultimately, IT is responsible for all the replicate sources we use. IT wants to control source endpoint creation/modification out of concerns for security on the source database. I think endpoint credentials are the biggest concern, but also that modifications can be made after creation which do not require the password to be re-entered.

Thanks for the additional details. I too think this would be beneficial. We have a large team who supports a large organization with numerous enterprise applications. Although I have never experienced an issue related to this I would prefer we limit who has credentials to our source and target systems as it would be one less risk. This would also give additional separation of duties which our auditors would appreciate.
