Provide a checkbox in the properties panel that will allow the user ( often inexperienced ) to apply the brushing style to a bar chart.

A bar chart can of course be configured with set analysis to persist the data that has not been selected and use different colors, but this is less than intuitive unless you know what to do.

It should hopefully be an easy UI change to add this checkbox, and upon doing so amend measures accordingly. In Master Items as well. And similar to the Output Expression of an accumulation - show a greyed out tooltip in the properties panel reflecting the set analysis used.

Hiding bars in a bar chart after a data selection is not a great user experience as it means the context of comparison is lost.

In addition, the simplest option might be to provide QV right-click -> Set Reference feature.
