Scatter plot compression - change number of data points above which compression is applied

Currently (Qlik June 2020) Qlik Sense applies an algorithm to compress data if you have more than 1000 data points. The threshold is not very practical as very often users need to analyze slightly more than that number of data points and they are stuck with the compressed view unless they make a selection or zoom in. Quite bothering is also the single color that can be applied to compressed data - so we have no real way to distinguish between different groups of points. With modern computing capabilities, it shouldn't be a problem to visualize 2k, 5k or 10k data points on a scatter plot.

Having a property to set the number of data points above which compression is applied will be the best approach. This can be implemented next to the current slider that sets compression resolution.

Similar limitation placed on Mini charts except it was 100. I wonder if This code base is less powerful than QlikView? It never compressed like this.

Thank you for your feedback on ways to improve our product. While this is something we understand would be useful, it's not on the short-term roadmap. Please continue to show your support for this idea.

The map chart has settings for number of objects rendered per layer, we hope to expand that into more charts.

On QV most of the charts were rendered on server side.

The limit of scatter plot points has been expanded as of October 2022 to up to 100,000 data points: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Suggest-an-Idea/Scatter-with-more-than-1000-points/idi-p/1497955

If there are more than 5,000 visible bubbles, then bubble labels and out of bound bubbles are not shown. Does this solution fit or are should we keep it open regarding customizing how many to show?

Delivered in SaaS as of Oct 18th 2022, in client managed February 2023 release.
