Dedicated capacity (application level)

Today, dedicated capacity can be assigned to a space only and not to an application.

Is it possible to have this capability on application level ?

Hi @BenLeroy_KPC thanks for adding this idea as well into the ideation. As we talked about it in our calls, we do prioritise the work around dedicated capacity. Our main goal is that you do not have to make to many of those manual decisions and we can scale dedicated capacity in a more elastic way.

In short we are going to improve this as soon as possible and it will be shared with you right away. Besides from that, the monitoring for Dedicated Capacity is planend to be added in Q1 / 2022 as part of one of our monitoring Apps.

We definitely need this automatically scale to dedicated capacity (or change it to app-level) asap.

This is very important to improve the DC resource usage and reduce the polluted spaces just for the heavy apps.

Hi @BenLeroy_KPC & @rafael-attux ,

to update you and the thread, the backend migration into the new architecture for Dedicated Capacity is planned for May 2023 right now. This will allow you to still control the usage of your capacity on the Space level but it only routes those Apps larger than the default app size limit (5 GB at this point) to a larger engine. And only those will consume capacity from your dedicated capacity amount.

Going forward, we are planning to support the possibility to assign a certain amount of capacity to a space. That enables customers to better manage and control the capacity usage at a very fine grain level.
