Hi expert, i read some articles to recommend NOT update NPrinting 16 to 17 Yet?

anybody have any suggestion or case to know your expierence?

Check out the features here at the end between 16 and 17 , if it fits your needs go ahead with the upgrade

Hello Fernando,

We have the same dillema. I have made some tests and even reported some issues to the Qlik support team. The short answer from them was "although it's named nPrinting 17, have in mind that it's really like a 1st version, like nPrinting 1.0, because all the architecture was changed. Each release will fix the reported bugs".

My issues were related with the multiple QV.exe instances that are on RAM and are not closing after a report was generated, high resources comsumptions and manual tasks launch failing.

I would like, as you, hear experiences from those who had already upgrated the system, on a production enviroment.

Thanks for your test experience. I plan to do some test with Qliksense 3.1 and nprinting 17 as well.

It is supervising to see "Nprinting 17 is really like a 1st version".

So for my qlikview solution, I will stay for Nprinting 16.

But Nprinting 16 is not available for Qliksense, right?

Hi All,
I haven't used Nprinting 16 (have knowledge) but I'm using 17 . Qlik took down many features of 16 in 17 . but eventually we will have all the features back. for now the tool has many issues , bugs and less features than 16 which reduces the tool capability of doing things which we expect from nprinting 17 keeping 16 in mind and today its not complete tool, the tool is evolving every upgrade has major bug fixes and features added . In Mid 2017 (date is not out yet) they are claiming to have a big release (17.3 may be) which brings all the features back which we had in nprinting 16 and can expect more.

If you started using tool now like me we are one year late for nprinting 16 and one year early for nprinting 17.3

Their are few version compatibility issues with N17 ...it supports On demand only with QV version 11.2 SR15 and above ..still lot of improvements are going on lets see

Thanks for your info.

Our plan is that if Qliksense + nprinitng can work well, we would like to move our current Qlikview+Nprinitng solution to Qliksense + Npriniting.

As now Nprinting is still not ready for Qliksense, I think we need postponed this plan.

I suggest you to install NP and test properly before moving from QV+NP to QS+NP.....

To address many of the posts above, there is a service release coming out this month (17.2.1) that will have significant improvements in quality and stability over previous versions.

We will continue to focus on stabilizing the product and then shift our attention to remaining gap features and other enhancements.

The 17.2.0 is full of issues. From my personal view it shouldn't be used for production at all. I hope the new version can be much better.

I would not use NPrinting 17 in it's current version. For one of our customers we tried to use 17.1 without any success so we decided to reverse to 16.5 that is much more stabile and has all the functions that 17.1 doesn't have.

As I understand it, there is no migration path between 16 and 17. Whilst the templates can be reused, I think you will need to recreate the .nsq again with the new version. Also, having loaded version 17 it doesn't play nicely with version 16 so you cannot have the two versions on the same server whilst migrating from one to the other.
