Nprinting on a server without Office

Hello,

I would like to use Nprinting Server on a server but my company doesn't allow the installation of Office on servers.

They say Microsoft doesn't provide such licences for Office.

Is it planned to have Nprinting creating Excel or PPT documents without Office installed on the server ?

Is there a solution to have a Nprinting Server and no Office on it but allow people to create and refresh documents on their desktop ? (even if they don't have the Qlikview document on their desktop)

Hi Frédéric,

To create Excel and PPT report you need a Microsoft Office license, but you can install the Qlik NPrinting designer on a your desktop machine (with Office installed) so you can develop Qlik NPrinting template from there.

Or you can develop PixelPerfect and HTML reports in your server machine (in this case no additional software is required)

NPrinting 17 Designer is meant to be installed on users computers not on the server. Keep in mind that it has to be hardcopy of MSOffice - not Web Office 365!

The Designer yes but when the report is designed, it is still a server which should refresh it isn't it ?

I'm ok about the creation of the reports with the designer, but when the report is created and scheduled on the server, does the server needs Office ? I think so .. And Excel is not a server product ..

Hi Frédéric,

Office is only required on the Designer machine to initially create the report templates (in the case of Word, Excel & PowerPoint). NPrinting Server does not require Office to produce reports from these templates.

Is it true for Nprinting Server 16 ?

When the report is created by the designer and installed on the server, the refreshes can occur without any Excel or Powerpoint on the server ? How does it do ?

The NPrinting server generates MS Office format files from templates but it does not require a copy of MS Office to be installed. The engine itself is able to populate templates and save them in MS Office format.

NB:, the NPrinting server does NOT open reports once they are generated, so if your reports have macros in them, these will not be executed before the report is delivered, but only after they are opened by the recipient.

yes, Nprinting will generate and distribute reports. (Only thing is you cannot modify the templates on server).

Recipient needs MS-Office installed on his system.

adding one point on question , i did the same but field to populate data in report as i was using 2 tables in reports . So, how can Nprinting will understand which table data need to pick and place in first sheet or second sheet without opening designer
