Do you know what the minimum properties in a role need to be? I wonder if that is the issue as I (my user) have the Administrator NP Role, but, I also have access to literally all the data in my data model/section access.

For the first time I am trying to use the inherent section access in my Qlikview doc to control what data users see in their NPrinting reports, instead of using and assigning NPrinting Filters to Users to control that. It is not working however, is it because I am using NTNAME in section access in my qvw? I've been reading spotty and dated conversations about this being a possible issue. I have NPrinting Sept 2018 and Qlikview 2017 SR6. I have myself as an ADMIN in section access and I can successfully run the report (I can correctly see all data associated to all users). But when I run the report for User1 or User2, which can only see data associated to them individually, the report fails for them with message "WARN: error during report generation: NPrinting Engine failed to open document". Can anyone offer some helpful tips and info on what is necessary to leverage section access from a Qlikview app for NPrinting reports? (and not just give me links to the online help, which is either nonexistent or too vague)? Thanks.

Hi Kris,

I have no clear answer yet, but lets take it 1 step at the time.

we need to be particular here:

What connection in NPrinting are you using? (LOCAL or QVP)? This is important to start with...

Screenshot of your connection setting would help (if you can share it - maybe scramble server name and user names, but keep visible all other check boxes and setting you are using)

Is NPrinting engine service account part of section access table with Admin rights? Is it setup in NPrinting connection configuration?

are "Domain account" properties in your NPrinting user list properly populated and they match ntname and domain from QlikView sectiona access table?

Also if you could share links you have already covered I would have a better understanding on below: " It is not working however, is it because I am using NTNAME in section access in my qvw? I've been reading spotty and dated conversations about this being a possible issue. "

That all looks good Kris,

So normally you would just reload QVW and save after reload and reload metadata in NPrinting (to make sure that data reduction does not remove other users from section access table "on open document"). This is often forgotten when you want to do quick change in the object, you open document do the change and save it without reload....

And you also need other users DOMAIN ACCOUNTS properly configured in NPrinting. Those users will need to have nprinting role assigned as well.

If this still does not work I guess you will have to chat to support.

Hi Kris,

Just want to check something i have not checked before...

Are all your users which you are listing in Section Access having an access to actual qvw document? I presume that when you apply section access in NPrinting, user domain account is used to open document so that user needs also be able to open/access actual qvw file.

Let me know your thoughts

cheers

Lech

Yep, I did deploy the qvw to those users. At first I hid the qvw in Access Point after deployment because I didn't want those users seeing my development work but even when I did not hide it in Access Point I still did not get favorable results.
