Hello got a dashboard with section access applied
there are users with ACCESS values ADMIN, and USER
I created an NPRINTING report that takes an already available Table in the dashboard and sends it as an excel sheet
the problem I'm facing is that the publish task only generates the report for users with ADMIN access
and gives errors for users with USER access

Failed resolution for variable V\vL.Previous.Period of connection 4fdf89f4-e814-4ef4-8ca8-4616fc0323b6: NPrinting Engine(s) failed to open document: navigator=qliksense;proxyurl=***********************************************\SDUCHER. Check connection page for connection status.

what does this mean?
I have a variable called vL.Previous.Period
if I remove the section access the task finishes successfully
kindly advise

Hi,

Be sure all users have the requirements listed in https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2023/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Section-access.htm#anchor-3. It seems a user authorization issue.

Also note that Section Access is slower than native filters because Qlik NPrinting impersonates each user so you have to wait the end of reports creation of a user before the generation for next one starts.

When using section access NPrinting impersonates a user so users will need to have access to Qlik Sense app. Do all users have Stream and app access in Qlik Sense hub?

they can open the app from the hub

Do you have all those users created as NPrinting users in NPrinting with Domain Account populated properly in their profiles?

what account have you used when creating connection to this Qlik Sense app? Does this account have full admin access?
have you verified with the user that this user can open the app, uses that exact domain account and has data for report you are generating and has access to all sheets requires.

i am running out of ideas so with limited options we have on community it may not be possible to troubleshoot it more.

it's the nprinting user used for running nprinting services
and this user account is added as ADMIN in the SECTION ACCESS

this user account can send nprinting report to users with ADMIN Access, but not those with USER access
but these users with USER access can open the dashboard and see what they are supposed to see as data

Can that user login to your NPrinting server, then open the hub (using the same proxy address as the connection is using) and then open that app?

is the user in the same domain as the NP and QS servers?

You may need to work with Qlik Professional Services to troubleshoot your Section Access.

Ok, like I said - this may require support ticket so they can replicate your issue.

Lastly - Can the "OTTARIEUX" user open Qlik Sense app, click on object and export data directly from the Qlik Sense app?

yes OTARRIEUX can open the dashboard from the hub
he sees only the data as per what is defined in section access
yes this user can export data of any chart

Hi,

The error says there is a failure in calculating a variable. Insert a box with the value of that variable in the Qlik Sense app and check that for the users with issue in reports generation the variable is calculated correctly in the Sense app, excluding Qlik NPrinting.

it's a simple variable with the following definition:
=MonthName(addmonths(Today(),-1))

is there a restriction on calculating such simple variable?!!

hi @ali_hijazi - no, obviously no restrictions on that.

The issue is related to document not opening, so making sure that Qlik Sense app is published, that connection is pointing to published app, that sheets are based sheets (not private), that users can open and use apps etc is the very base in this case.

You have said that all above things are met so again - if you still have issues dont wait and open support ticket. Without having a hands on experience (call when someone can look at this) it may be difficult to troubleshoot.

What is your Qlik Sense version?
Is this user from the same domain as all other users?

Hi,

Qlik NPrinting impersonates the Section Access users and open a new connection for each one. What I suggested is to bes ure that the users that have issues with Qlik NPrinting reports can connect directly with Qlik Sense to the app used as a source for reports and that they see the variable mentioned in the error message correctly. Everything must work correctly in Qlik Sense.

Please also note we are not there with you and we do not have access to your systems.

I agree with @Lech_Miszkiewicz 's suggestion about opening a support ticket.
