Cache generation task is taking long time and not finishing

Hello Team,

I have created a new nprinting qvw application and also created the app in nprinting. When I'm trying to reload the metadata of that app,it's running more than one hour and not completing.There are no issue with other nprinting cache tasks.

May I Know why it's taking more time ?

Versions : Qlik NPrinting May 2022 SR4 and Qlikview May 2022 SR2

Hi,

When NPrinting is generating metadata it is clearing all selections and then previewing all sheets (also hidden sheets).

If your app takes long time it is likely caused by unoptimized views which cause process to fail.

Typically you want app used for NPrinting to be fast and responsive when all selections are cleared. To achieve that you can minimize all objects as then they will not be calculated when sheets are previewed greatly speeding up process.

Other things to consider:

make sure you meet all requirements: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2023/Content/NPrinting/GettingStarted/HowCreateConnections/Connect-to-QlikView-docs.htm
what kind of connection you use (Local or QVP)
how are resources consumed (depending on connection type you may need to QlikView server resources to be monitored (for QVP) or NPrinting server resources to be checked (for LOCAL connection type)

Those are the very basics things you would do as a bare minimum I would say.

If it is not completing, this may also be due to unsupported items in the QVW.

You might be hung up on a trigger, a macro, trying to use alternate identity etc.

Check the above in addition to Lech's points.
