I have no idea what logs you are talking about. I have never seen in NPrinting 16.6 logs information about resizing images so I dont really believe it, unless you have used one of those "quality" options (although I am now unsure if it even was available in v 16...). The usual troubleshooting of such problem starts with the template preview so I am going to ask few questions which are rather critical to troubleshoot:

is the image ok when you preview that report in NPrinting designer and it opens in web browser as HTML?

what is an actual resolution of that image?

can you export your report as HTML file (not embeded in email body but attached to email) and see how big is the image directly in the file?

how does that message look like in other mail clients like (mobile phone (android vs Iphone, macbook mail client, macbook outlook client, windows desktop outlook client vs web outlook client) etc ? Do you notice differences?

Were you able to check the source of the body of you email so you could then see the HTML code and styling used in it?

Depending on your anser to above questions we may need to suggest different solution. As far as I remember with NPrinting 16 html images were exported together with the file to a folder, so it should be easy to check how big that image is in that folder. If it is big enough in there then the rest is just HTML and CSS styling which obviously is no longer nprinting issue.

Now you can say: "but it worked and now it stopped". What I say to that is: "that is why is no longer supported as it may suddenly stop, and I have seen it many times in the past". As I said earlier. You are on very old NPrinting Version which means you MUST be also on very old QlikView version - supported versions are below mentioned ones or earlier versions:

Support for QlikView 11.20 SR16
Qlik NPrinting 16.6 officially supports QlikView 11.20 SR16.
Support for QlikView 12.10 SR4
Qlik NPrinting 16.6 officially supports QlikView 12.10 SR4.

Anything newer than that is not supported and can be cause of issues or worse if your QlikView version is newer than any of the above version then you are not on compatible configuration.

it is very little and very vague information from you at the moment so I cannot comment more unfortunatelly.

It would be helpful to know the mail client used versions, the screenshots of before and after scenarios etc...

cheers

Hi

HTML images Bar, Lines graphs are suddenly rendered shrunk in Outlook 365 emails body when sent via NPrinting reports.

All those HTML images graphs' reports were previously produced properly until a few days ago we noticed they appeared shrunk within emails body.

We would like to precise that we are not making use of any external or embedded CSS in our HTML reports.

We are using very simple HTML code like the following one:

<html>
<body>
<img src="%%CH2463%%" alt="CH2463">
</body>
</html>

We are using Nprinting version 16.6.0.0.

Waiting for your precious help to find out what can be the cause of this issue.

Best Regards,

Hi @moniquen17

1. Your nprinting version is not supported for more than 4 years so there could be compatibility issues with QlikView, but there is no point checking it as your configuration isnt supported.
2. Just on styling side of things: If the images suddenly started to look different it is likely due to change in Outlook 365 which is known for causing css style issues and is very hard to troubleshoot. Have you checked how preview of those reports look directly in google chrome or other web browser?

there are online tools which can help you troubleshoot which styles are supported by which mail clients for example: https://www.campaignmonitor.com/css/

This is really css and style issue when using outlook 365 so maybe check on microsoft community what styling should be applied.

I have just reviewed the Nprinting log, and it can be noticed that the html images have been shrunk after they have been copied to their respective output folder location and before connecting to the outgoing mail server and sending the email.

Do you have any idea why the above happened?

Hi @Lech_Miszkiewicz

The image is also shrunk when previewing that report in NPrinting designer and when it opens in web browser as HTML.

The resolution of that image before this issue was : Width 822 pixels and Height: 198 pixels .

      When this issue occurred, the width of that image has been changed to 241 pixels and the height of this same image has been changed to 58 pixels. This proves to us that the image has really been shrunk down.

When exporting and attaching the report as HTML file to email, one can notice that the image has also been shrunk down.

Was able to check the source of the body of the email so I could then see the HTML code and styling that was used in it. I accordingly noticed that there was no use of width and height attributes within all the <img> tags.

F.Y.I, we are using Nprinting version 16.6.0.0 together with QlikView 12.10 SR10.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon and waiting for any suggestions to solve this critical issue.

Best Regards,

Ok,

So this is a case that exported image resolution is changed regardles of the output which obviously changes angle we try to investigate this further as it is no longer issue of mail client (outlook rendering) used but rather issue of QlikVIew desktop exporting image with smaller resolution.

This does not happen by itself unless something has changed. What has changed?

QlikView application? How big is an image if you click on it directly in QlikView and export it as image?

Was the QlikView application updated on some other server/computer (maybe with different version of QlikVIew)?

Operating system patches (were there any patches installed on QlikVIew or NPrinting server lately)

Are you able to roll back both servers to the time when image was exported properly?

Are you running the same version of QlikVIew server as QlikView desktop?

Were there any changes to user account running services?

Are you using server/QVP or local connection (file access) when producing this report via NPrinting?

What are the user settings on the QlikView desktop used for report production.

Antivirus update?

Antimalware update?

Is there other software running on the same server or maybe got installed

I know it sounds ridiculous but there must be something what has changed, we just dont know what.

The problem with this is that I have no environment where I can test all this as these versions are just too old.

As part of the testing in this scenario all I would do would be to create a simple report from scratch using new qvw with Qtrl+Q+Q script and few charts and new NSQ file just to see if this is an issue even if everything is created news/from scratch. Let me know how you go.

cheers

As you wrote above, this was rather issue of QlikView desktop exporting image with smaller resolution.

I accordingly fixed the "ClipboardZoom" parameter in settings.ini file that has been strangely set to 0.44. After changing his value to 1.5, all of our push reports were produced back properly without any shrunk graphs/table images in embedded html reports.

I would like to thank you very much for all your efforts to help me coping with this issue and I wish you a happy new year 2025.
